CCTV Issued to Identify Newham Assault Suspects

Detectives from Newham Borough investigating an assault have issued CCTV footage of two men they wish to identify and speak to in connection with the incident.

On Sunday, 5 June police were called at around 01:20hrs to a report of an assault outside Barclays Bank in High Street North, Newham.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the victim was taken to an east London hospital. He was treated for facial bruising before being discharged.

The victim, a 23-year-old man, had visited a cash point at the bank when he was approached by a man who started to shout at him. The victim shouted back but was immediately confronted by a second taller man who punched him in the face.

The second man then dragged the victim into the foyer of the bank whereupon the two men further assaulted the man, knocking him unconscious.

The two suspects are described as:

Suspect 1 is described as of Mediterranean or South European appearance, approximately 6ft 2ins tall and was wearing a dark coloured top with a light colour across his shoulders.

Suspect 2 is also described as of Mediterranean or South European appearance, approximately 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a black baseball cap, dark coloured top and dark jeans with white trainers.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the two men shown on CCTV or who witnessed this assault.
