Police investigate serious sexual assault in Barrow

Detectives are investigating following a report of a serious sexual assault in the area of St James Park in Walney, Barrow.

At around 2am on Sunday a 33 year old woman was assaulted. The incident involved three men.

DI David Stalker said:

“This was a very serious assault and we are working hard to establish the facts. Thankfully these incidents are rare in Cumbria, and we are committed to investigating the incident thoroughly. The woman is being supported by specially trained professionals at this difficult time.

“I would urge anyone who may have been in the area around that time, or may have any information, to come forward and let us know.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 and ask for Barrow CID or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
