Police were called to Tilford House, Holmewood Gardens, Brixton at 17:00hrs on Sunday, 4 May, following reports of a stabbing
Alim was found suffering from multiple stab wounds and taken to hospital where he later died.
A post-mortem examination took place on Monday, 5 May at Greenwich mortuary and gave cause of death as multiple incised wounds.
The police investigation found the youth had lured Alim to the top floor of Tilford House with the promise of returning money Alim had previously paid him for a bike he never received.
There the victim was viciously set upon by Drake in an unprovoked attack, who inflicted multiple wounds, including a stab wound to his heart.
Drake was traced by detectives on CCTV and enquiries established he fled to a relative’s address in SW17. He had also asked for directions to a launderette with the intention of cleaning his bloodstained clothing, however it was closed and Drake tried to wash the bloodied clothes in a bath instead.
He was arrested at his relative’s address in SW17 less than 12 hours after the murder.
Forensic tests confirmed it was Alim’s blood on the clothes and the bath.
Detective Inspector Dave Reid, said: “There is no indication Alim knew how dangerous and fatal the meeting would be. I believe he went with the honest intention of retrieving the money he had paid for a bike he never received.
“I can only hope today’s sentence goes some small way to bringing justice to Alim’s family.”
