Attempted robbery in Nitshill

November 6, 2014, 6:14 pm

Police Scotland is appealing for information following an attempted robbery at a shop in Nitshill, Glasgow on 5 November 2014.

Around 2100 hours, two men entered the premises of Ladbrokes Bookmakers on Woodneuk Road dressed in white paper suits and wearing black balaclavas. One man was in possession of what appeared to be a firearm and demanded money from a staff member. On being challenged by customers within the premises, the two men made off empty handed in a small white car which drove north along Woodneuk Road shortly after the incident.

Both are described as of medium build and height with local accents.

DC Neil Guy, of Pollock Police Office said today:

“Thankfully no one was injured during the attempted robbery. However, it was a very frightening experience for the staff and customers at the shop.”

“Our enquiries are still at quite an early stage. We are analysing CCTV and conducting interviews. I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of the bookmakers at the time of incident to contact police with any relevant information.”

“I would ask that anyone who has information about the men responsible or can help with our enquiries, please contact police at the Pollock Police Office via the non-emergency number 101. You can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where confidentiality can be maintained.”
