Appeal to trace victim of attempted robbery in Newcastle

Police are continuing to appeal for the victim of an attempted robbery to come forward.
At 12pm on Saturday, November 8, police were informed a man had attempted to snatch a bag from a woman in Worswick Street in Newcastle. A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery and is in police custody.
The victim – a woman aged around 25 – had left the scene before police had the chance to speak to her and she did not leave her details. Officers are keen for her to get in contact.

She is described as white, about 5ft 5ins tall of medium build, with dark brown hair tied in a pony tail. She was wearing a dark overcoat and was in company with a young child. She had parked her car directly outside St Andrew’s Church in Worswick Street when the incident took place.
DC Ross Atkinson said: “A man has been arrested in connection with this offence and we’re keen for the victim to come forward so we can speak to her about what happened.
“I’d urge the woman, or anyone who knows her, makes contact with us as soon as possible.”
