Appeal following an assault in Welwyn Garden City

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault which occurred in Welwyn Garden City on Friday, November 7.

The incident happened at around 5pm in College Way when the victim, a 19 year old man, had been cycling along the road. As he approached the mini-roundabout near Waitrose, a man approached and blocked his path.

The man then sprayed deodorant on the victims chest before holding a lighter, which wasnt lit, to the victims chest. The victim managed to get away uninjured.

The suspect is described as a black male, aged 17 to 18 years old, with short dark hair and was of a thin build. He was wearing black clothing.

If anyone saw what happened or has any information which would assist the investigation they should call PC Richard Brain via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number B1/14/3344.
