Two charged with Ely robbery

Two men have appeared in court charged with the robbery of a man in Cherry Hill Park.

Lee Jones, 32, of Skegness Road, Stevenage, and Sebastian Yellowe, 22, of Langthorne Avenue, Stevenage, have been charged with robbery and causing grievous bodily harm.

They appeared at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and were remanded into custody to appear at the city’s crown court on Friday (October 24).

The victim, a 67-year-old man, was discovered in the park off Broad Street, Ely, in the early hours of Thursday morning. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A 33-year-old woman also arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed until November 26.
