Statement following shots fired in Walton

October 31, 2014, 4:38 pm

Merseyside Police can confirm an investigation is underway after a shot was fired at a house in Walton last night, Thursday, 30 October.

Officers were called to Stuart Road, at just after 9.45pm, by a man reporting that two other men had forced their way into his house armed with what’s believed to be some form of firearm.

They threatened him before leaving the property.

Immediately after, the sound of a shot being fired was heard and officers found damage to the front window of the house consistent with a firearm being discharged.

No-one was injured during the incident.

An extensive search of the area was immediately carried out by officers in a bid to find those responsible for the incident.

House-to-house inquiries are being carried out and high visibility patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the local community.

An investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is continuing, although, at this early stage, detectives currently believe it was targeted.
