Man arrested after report of rape

Police investigating a rape in Sunderland have made an arrest.

At 12.50am on Saturday, October 11, police received a report that an 18-year-old woman had been raped.

The offence is believed to have happened between 11.30pm and midnight in an area of woodland in Keelman’s Lane just off St Luke’s Road.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is helping police with enquiries.

Anyone with any information that could help with enquiries, is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 68 11/10/14.
