Investigation underway following incident in Widnes

At 9.45pm on Wednesday 15th October police received reports of a disturbance outside a property in St Michael′s View in Widnes.
Officers arrived swiftly at the scene and a 25-year-old local man was taken to hospital with injuries to his abdomen and leg. Police believe that a firearm was discharged during the incident.
The man remains in hospital and is in a stable condition. He has undergone surgery to remove a pellet from his body.

Chief Inspector Kevin Bennett said: “Detectives are following a number of lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to trace the individuals involved.
“This is believed to be an isolated incident at this stage. Discharges of firearms are rare in Cheshire and local officers are currently out in the area providing reassurance to the community.”
