Detectives Seek Witnesses to Bedford Assault

October 15, 2014, 6:59 pm

Detectives in Bedford are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 17 year old man was assaulted on his way home from a party on Friday, October 3.

The incident happened at approximately midnight when the victim and his friends left a party and began to walk home along Church Lane. When they reached the car park close to Aldi Supermarket a large group of black men began to shout at the victim and his friends.

In an unprovoked attacked the victim was then hit over the head with a blunt object by one of the group causing a serious head wound.

The victim managed to run from the scene and met a police officer at the junction of Dover Crescent and Wentworth Drive and reported what had happened.

The victim required hospital treatment to a hole in his skull.

Detective Constable Karl Heywood, investigating, is keen to trace others who were in the Church Lane area and can help identify the offenders.

DC Heywood said: “We know that there were a lot of people who attended the party and who were in the Church Lane area as the victim and his friends were making their way home. I would appeal to these people to come forward and help identify those responsible for this violent assault.”

Anyone with information relating to this crime can contact DC Heywood, at Greyfriars Police Station, in confidence, on 01234 275333, or Bedfordshire Police on 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
