Appeal for information following Kensington robbery

Merseyside Police is appealing for information after an elderly man was subjected to a robbery in Kensington on Friday, 10 October.

At about 1.15pm a man in his 80s was walking along Deane Road near to Lidl when he was grabbed from behind by an unknown male who stole the mans wallet before running away towards Prescot Road.

The victim was left very distressed following his ordeal.

Temporary Detective Constable Kevin Yanez, said: “This was an extremely upsetting incident and has left this man very distressed.

“We are absolutely determined to find this offender as he has no qualms about preying on vulnerable members of our society but we need the public’s help.

“Prescot Road and Deane Road are busy thoroughfares, particularly at this time of the day, and I would appeal to anyone who was out and about at this time and think they saw anything that in hindsight seems suspicious, to contact us with that information. I’d also like to reassure people that incidents like this are rare and neighbourhood officers will be patrolling this area.

“We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and we are appealing to anyone with any information about the person responsible for this robbery to call us so we can take action against them.”

An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is on-going.
