Appeal for information following attempted robbery in St Helens

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following an attempted robbery in St Helens on Sunday, 12 October.
At about 5pm a 15-year-old girl was walking along Prescot Road near to the entrance of Taylor Park when she was approached by an unknown male who attempted to grab her rucksack.
The male was unsuccessful in his attempt and ran off into Taylor Park. The victim, although uninjured, was left very shaken following her ordeal.

The matter was reported to the police and enquiries are on-going in the area.
The offender is described as being white, aged 18-25, 5ft 10 ins tall of a slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top and black tracksuit bottoms with a stripe or stripes on the sides.
Officers would urge anyone who may have witnessed this incident or recognises the description of the offender to get in touch.
Detective Neil Henry, said: “We are absolutely determined to find this offender so he cannot commit further crimes but we need the public’s help in piecing together what happened before this crime was committed.
“I would appeal to anyone who was out and about at this time and think they saw anything that in hindsight seems suspicious, to contact us with that information. I’d also like to reassure people that incidents like this are rare and neighbourhood officers will be patrolling this area.
“Information that seems trivial to them may turn out to be crucial for us in catching this person.”
