Appeal after Newcastle robbery

Police are appealing for information after a robbery in Newcastle.
It happened at 4.20pm on Monday, October 20, at St Ann’s Steps at City Road in the city centre when a man hit a teenager aged 14 on the backside to distract her and then tried to steal her bag.
He made off without stealing anything. The victim wasn’t injured but was left shaken.

The suspect is described as white, aged between 30 and 40 years old, about 5ft 9ins tall of skinny build with brown hair. He was wearing a brown waterproof jacket, bright blue jumper and navy jeans.
