Detectives in Liverpool North are appealing for the public’s help, after an elderly man was injured last night (Sunday, 10 March) in Vauxhall.

Some time between 11.45pm and 12 midnight, the 85-year-old man was walking home from a social club along Burlington Road, when he noticed a group of six to eight youths walking behind him.

Part of the group walked past him and as the rest of the group walked past, he was knocked over. He managed to get up and a neighbour helped him home. He was taken to hospital and found to have suffered a dislocated shoulder.

Detective Inspector Martin Earl from St Anne Street CID, said: “This elderly man has suffered a painful and significant injury as he walked home after an evening out with his friends.

“We need to piece together how he came to suffer these injuries and I would urge any members of that group or any local residents or passers-by who saw what happened to do the right thing and come forward.”

CCTV from the area is being examined and house to house enquiries will continue today.
