Two men arrested after city assault

Two men have been arrested after an assault in Newcastle.

At 1.40am on Sunday, March 3, police received a report that a 25-year-old man had been assaulted at City Vaults in the Bigg Market. The victim suffered a laceration to his head and it’s believed he had been struck over the head with a bottle.

He received hospital treatment before being discharged.

Officers arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of assault and he has been bailed pending further enquiries. A second man aged 32 has been arrested on suspicion of assault this morning and is currently in custody helping with enquiries.
