March 2, 2013, 4:32 pm

A teenager was stabbed in the leg during an attack in Wythenshawe.

At around 2.45am on Saturday 16 February 2013, the 17-year-old was walking along Mayfair Road, Crossacres when a black VW Golf slowed down behind him.

The offender got out of the car and lunged towards the victim, stabbing him in the leg.

He then got back inside the vehicle and drove off towards Croftlands Road.

He is described as being 6ft tall, of slim build, wore a black hooded top, had his face covered and black tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Lee Freeman based at Wythenshawe Police Station said: “We believe this was a random attack that has left a young man with a seriously painful injury.  Thankfully, he is recovering from his injuries and has been released from hospital.

“Understandably, members of the community will be disturbed by what has happened but I can reassure them that we are doing all we can to help find the person responsible for this attack.  However, we do need local residents to help and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police as soon as possible.”
