Teenage girls assaulted on city centre bus – CCTV image released

A CCTV image of a man who is suspected of assaulting two teenage girls on a bus in Shard End has been released by police.
Three girls, all aged 14, were travelling on the number 55 bus from Birmingham city centre when a man, described as black and around 6ft 5in tall, sat by them.

One of the girls asked the man to stop singing which made him aggressive and abusive.
As the man left the bus near to the Harlequin Surgery he slapped two of the girls in the face and kicked one of them in the groin.
Police have released an image of the suspect in an attempt to identify him.
The assault happened at around 5.40pm on Saturday 2 February.
PC Chris Weaver, from the Stechford investigation team, said: “We are hoping that by releasing the image someone will be able to identify the man.
“The girls were obviously left shaken and upset from the ordeal and we are keen to speak to this man.
“Were you on the bus at the time of the assault and did you witness it? If so, we would like to speak to you.
“We are urging anyone with any information that could help our investigation to contact me or one of the team by dialling 101. Alternatively you can leave information anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers the independent charity on 0800 555 111.”
