Teen chased by youths in robbery attempt

March 8, 2013, 2:58 pm

Police are seeking a group of youths after a teenager was the victim of an attempted robbery in Dudley last month.

The 15-year-old victim was waiting for his father outside Dudley Zoo at around 7pm on Tuesday 19 February when a group of seven young people approached him and one started to push the lad around and pat him down. The plucky teen managed to escape and ran off, with three from the group giving chase. Fortunately the lad was spotted by his dad, who arrived in the nick of time.

Detective Constable Louise Davis, from Dudley CID, said: “Although nothing was stolen from the lad, he was extremely shaken by his ordeal.

“We are keen to trace those involved, as it was undoubtedly not an isolated offence and we would like to prevent this from happening to anyone else.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact DC Davis on 101 or alternatively information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
