Police appeal for information after anti-social behaviour at York station

March 5, 2013, 12:01 pm

Officers from British Transport Police (BTP) are calling on the publics help following a fight in a waiting room at York station on Saturday, 23 February.

Two 21-year-old men from Stockton-on-Tees have been arrested in connection with the incident and have been released on police bail.

PC Dave Knox, the investigating officer, said: “Around 8.10pm, a group of between 10-12 people were involved in a fight in the waiting room on platforms 10 and 11.

“It appears an altercation between two groups took place, and the fight was stopped when police officers and members of the public intervened.”

Police are asking anyone who was at the station at the time, or who has any information about the incident to come forward.

PC Knox continued: “We have already made two arrests in connection with the incident, but need to identify others who may be responsible.

“Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could really help us with our enquiries.”
