Murder in Mayfair

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Mayfair.

Police were called to a flat in Mount Street, W1 shortly before 16:00hrs on Friday, 8 March following reports of a man found collapsed.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. A 63-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene having suffered apparent head injuries. Next of kin have been informed.

Whilst officers believe they know who the deceased is they await a formal identification.

A post mortem examination on Sunday, 10 March gave the cause of death as head injuries.

Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating.

There has been no arrest and enquiries are ongoing.
