Man arrested after 37kg of cocaine seized

Officers from the Met’s Central Task Force East have arrested a man after recovering over 30kilos of Class A drugs in east London.
As part of an intelligence led operation, officers attended an address in Golden Lane, Clerkenwell shortly before 2100hrs on Friday, 1 March.
On entering the premises, officers discovered a large quantity of a substance, believed to be cocaine, stored in three bags. In total, approximately 37 kilos were recovered with an estimated street value of at least £5million.

A man, aged 23, was arrested in nearby Fann Street on suspicion of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply – he remains in custody at an east London police station.
Acting Detective Inspector Tim Grinsted from the Central Task Force (SCO7(7)) East said:
“This seizure demonstrates the tireless work of my officers to track down those responsible for putting drugs on the streets.
“I hope this sends out a clear message to those people – our officers will find you, arrest you and you will face the full force of the law.”
