CCTV released of stocking-masked robber at Wolverhampton bookies

Police investigating an attempted armed robbery at a Wolverhampton bookmakers have released CCTV images of the man responsible, who tried to disguise himself with a pair of tights worn over his face.

The incident took place on Monday 25 February at 8.30pm at William Hill Bookmakers in Wood End Road, Wolverhampton.

The suspect went into the shop, armed with a handgun and demanded money from the till. When the staff refused, he fled empty handed.

The offender, described as a man, 59, light skinned, possibly mixed-race, thin build, wearing a pair of black shiny tights over his face, a grey hooded top and dark grey tracksuit bottoms; ran off in the direction of Helnsley Road, Wednesfield.

Anyone who recognises the man or has information about the incident should contact DC Marc Petford on the Western Serious Aquisitive Crime Team on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
