Merseyside Police has released CCTV stills of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the assault of a man in Anfield in the early hours of Sunday, 3 March.

At about 12.30am police were called to a report of a fight outside The George public house on Breck Road. Officers at the scene found a 34-year-old man collapsed with serious head injuries.

The man was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

House-to-house enquiries were undertaken and CCTV is being examined from the area.

Detectives believe the man pictured may be able to assist them with their enquiries and would urge him, anyone who recognises him or anyone who remembers this person being in the area at the time to contact them as a matter of urgency.

Detective Sergeant Jed Ferguson, said: “A 34-year-old man has been left in a serious condition and we urge anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with us.

“Detectives believe that prior to the assault there was an altercation between a number of people inside pub that eventually spilt out onto the street. At this time the pub was extremely busy and someone will have seen what happened.

“We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and we are appealing to anyone with any information about the person responsible for this attack to call us so we can take action against them.”

An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 4065 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
