Appeal to find masked robbers who assaulted B&Q staff

March 6, 2013, 1:11 pm

Three men burst into a hardware store in Shirley and assaulted staff, stealing hundreds of pounds in cash.

The robbers forced their way into B&Q on Marshall Lake Road as the shop was closing at around 8pm last Thursday (28 February).

One brave staff member, who tried to fight off the thieves, suffered a black eye after being punched by one of the offenders.

All three robbers are thought to have got away in a silver coloured saloon car.

The men are described as being dressed in dark clothing and wearing balaclavas. One man was white and another was believed to have had an Irish accent.

Detective constable Craig Avery, who is leading the investigation, said: “Thankfully nobody was seriously injured but we need to find the people responsible.

“I want to hear from any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the area at the time or the silver vehicle leaving the scene.”
