March 1, 2013, 4:29 pm

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a cat was shot and injured, with what is believed to be an air rifle, in Watford.

The offence occurred on Saturday, February 16th between 9am and 9pm in Woodmere Avenue. The three year old short haired black cat sustained serious injuries to one of its legs.

PC Andrew Crisp from the north Watford Safer Neighbourhood Team is investigating and said: “Thankfully such incidents are rare in Watford but, understandably, the owner is extremely upset by what has happened. I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact me.”

Anyone with information should contact PC Crisp via the police non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number C4/13/372. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, the independent charity, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
