Detectives in Liverpool North are appealing for information, following a serious assault in Mathew Street and have issued a CCTV still of a man who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

On Saturday, 9 December 2012 at around 10.45pm, a 38-year-old man from Belfast was in the Quarry Quarter bar with friends. He was approached by a man who he had a brief conversation with, who the assaulted him. The victim received stitches in his lip, a broken nose and was treated at hospital.

The offender is described as white, in his early 20s, between 5ft 8 – 5ft 10 inches in height, and had light coloured hair.

 Detective Constable Jason Banks said: “We believe this was an unprovoked attack and must have been a very frightening experience for the victim.

“I believe that if you were in the bar at the time of the assault, this is something you would remember – I would therefore appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to get in contact, so we can bring the person responsible to justice.”

Officers have released a CCTV still of a man who may be able to assist with enquiries and would urge this man or anyone who recognises him to get in contact.
