Robbers in wigs take jewellery and cash from pawnbrokers

A trio of wig wearing robbers stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and a substantial amount of cash from a pawnbrokers in Tipton.

Detectives have released CCTV images of three men they want to speak to in connection with the robbery that happened at around 3.15pm on Monday (18 February).

The suspects, wearing long black wigs to disguise themselves, stormed in to H and T Pawnbrokers in Great Bridge and jumped over the counter before filling a number of bags full of jewellery and cash.

They then ran out of the shop and drove off in a grey Volvo C30. The vehicle was later found by police burnt out in Jonah Close, Tipton.

Detective Constable Ryan Matthews, from Force CID, said: “The three robbers were wearing unusual wigs and had covered their faces in an attempt to disguise themselves.

“However someone may recognise the suspects in the CCTV images and may be able to help our investigation.

“We also want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery and may have seen the vehicle arriving or driving off.

“If you have any information that could help, please contact us as soon as possible.”
