Police investigate Wass burglary

Ryedale police are appealing for information following a burglary in the district.

It occurred between 3.30pm and 10pm on Tuesday 19 February 2013, from a property in the village of Wass, near Ampleforth.

The burglars stole jewellery including Accurist, Rotary and Silvana wristwatches, a ladys wedding ring, pearl necklaces and an assortment of cufflinks.

PC Paul Storey, of Malton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “If you noticed any suspicious activity in Wass area around the time of the burglary I ask you to contact the police or Crimestoppers straight away.

“I also need to speak to anyone who may have been offered any of the stolen jewellery for sale and ask them to get in touch.”

PC Storey added: “If you would like to ensure that your house is as secure as possible please visit the forces website where you can complete a self assessment survey as well as finding general crime prevention advice.”
