Police have launched a murder investigation after a death in North Tyneside.

At 1.53am on Saturday February 16 police were called to reports of a stabbing at Burn Closes Crescent in Wallsend.

Officers and the ambulance service attended and a 25-year-old man was found in the street outside a house with what appears to be a stab wound.

Despite efforts by paramedics at the scene he was declared dead shortly afterwards at the RVI.

At this time police believe that the man had been at a house party at an address on Burn Closes Crescent and had been involved in a fight involving a number of people.

Several people have been arrested in connection with the death.

Superintendent Jim Napier said: “Police enquiries at the scene are ongoing and a cordon is in place on the street.

“A murder investigation has been launched and additional police patrols are underway to aid the investigation and to reassure local residents.”

Anyone with information about the death or about a disturbance at an address on Burn Closes Crescent is asked to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number.
