Arrests in Somerset in connection with drugs supply

February 22, 2013, 11:59 pm

A man has been arrested after attempting to evade the police in Chard.

The man was arrested in Summerfield Road after running from the police as they approached and he later attempted to dispose of a quantity of white powder believed to be Class A drugs.

He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries and forensic analysis of the substance.

Officers in East Somerset also executed a warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act in Southmead Crescent, Crewkerne where a small cannabis factory was found. These plants have been destroyed and a woman has been arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis. She has also been bailed pending further enquiries.

Sergeant Richard Barnett said: “I would like to thank those members of the community who continue to support our work. Community intelligence is a key part of our role and the public act as our eyes and ears.
