Armed robbery latest – appeal to trace BMW

This is an update to previous messages about an armed robbery in Newcastle.
Police are now in a position to give details of a second vehicle they wish to trace in connection with the incident.
At 3:50pm on Thursday February 21, police received a report that two men had approached a security van guard outside Grosvenor Casino at Saint James Boulevard in the city centre.

They threatened him with what was described as a shotgun before stealing a large amount of cash.
The two men then fled the scene in a white coloured 4×4 which was found a short time later on fire in Gateshead. It’s been established this vehicle – a white Audi Q5 with the registration NL61UDX – had been stolen during a burglary in Bedlington on Tuesday, February 19.
It’s believed the two men then left the area in a second vehicle.
Officers can now say that this second car is believed to be a grey coloured BMW 320 estate bearing the false registration NE08 VWG.
