Police hunting man who sexually harassed teenagers – Rochdale

January 2, 2013, 11:00 am

Police are hunting a man who sexually harassed two teenagers in Rochdale.

The two 17-year-old girls had just left the Finesse Beauty Salon on Oldham Road at about 6pm on 19 December 2012, when they noticed a man walking in front of them.

However, once they walked past him he made a sexual gesture towards the girls.

They crossed the road by Balderstone Park to get away from him and carried on walking towards Broad Lane. However, the offender followed the two teens to the Little India restaurant on Oldham Road, where he made a number of inappropriate and graphic sexual remarks as well as other obscenities.

The girls told the offender to leave them alone and walked off quickly towards Balderstone Road, leaving the man behind.

He is described as being white, about 5ft 10in to 6ft tall, in his late 20s to early 30s, of a medium build and with what is described as a chunky face. He had short dark hair, stubble and was wearing a grey hooded tracksuit.

Police are now appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

Police Constable Kathryn Ross said: “No-one should ever be made to feel as uncomfortable as these two teenage girls. They were extremely scared as they had no idea what this man was going to do.

“He made a number of lewd remarks and gestures and such behaviour, where young girls are made to feel frightened, is totally unacceptable.

“We need to find this man and I would appeal to anyone who has information about the offender come forward.

“We are looking to see if any businesses have CCTV that captured the offence, and also asking anyone else who may have been a victim of this man to come forward and tell us so we can identity who he is and bring him to justice.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8609 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, 0800 555 111.
