Intruder stabs man with knife – Chorlton

January 2, 2013, 10:51 am

A man awoke on Christmas Day to find an intruder standing over his bed.

It happened at about 5.30am on Tuesday, 25 December 2012, when the victim was asleep at his house on Caldervale Road, Chorlton.

He awoke to the sound of someone entering his bedroom and, as the victim opened his eyes, saw a man standing at the end of his bed.

Realising the man wasnt one of his housemates he challenged the intruder, at which point the man ran downstairs and picked up a kitchen knife.

The offender then returned to the bedroom and threatened the victim with the knife. The intruder then became agitated and began to pace round the bedroom.

Fearing for his safety he tried to push the offender from his bedroom and received a couple of stab wounds in the process.

The offender managed to grab I-Phone and a Mac Book Pro on his way out and ran downstairs and out of the house, taking the back door key as he left.

The victim had been stabbed twice in the left shoulder blade, causing two small puncture wounds.

The intruder was described as mixed race, 5ft 6in tall with a slim build, thin face, 18-21-years-old, with dark coloured eyes and a goatee beard.

Detective Constable Chris Clarke, based at West Didsbury, said: “To be woken by an intruder in your bedroom is a complete nightmare that we all hope will never happen to us.

“Thankfully, the victim had the presence of mind to remain calm and, recognising the offender was becoming increasingly agitated, attempted to force him out of his bedroom.

“He was stabbed a couple of times but thankfully the injuries were relatively superficial and his scars should heal quite soon. The psychological upset of being attacked in your own bedroom like this will take longer to get over however.

“I now want to year from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of Christmas morning to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to call CID at West Didsbury on 0161 856 4783 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
