Assault – Didcot

December 6, 2012, 1:50 pm

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after an assault in Didcot in the early hours of Sunday morning (2/12).

At about 4.30am, police were called to reports of an altercation between a man and a woman outside Tesco Express, Cockcroft Road.

The victim, a 24-year-old woman, sustained a lump to her head and reddening to her arm and neck.

A 21-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. He has been released on bail until 2 January.

Det Con Julia Jacobs said: “The people involved in this incident are known to each other and this was not a random assault. We know that a man and a woman were arguing for a while in the area and at one point a local resident spoke to them.

“I am keen to speak to that resident or anyone else who saw them in the street.”

Anyone with any information should contact Det Con Jacobs via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.

If you don’t want to speak directly to the police, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
