Appeal: Young woman knocked unconscious in bar

December 6, 2012, 2:37 pm

A YOUNG WOMAN was knocked unconscious after being brutally punched in a Birmingham bar as she partied with friends.

The 26-year-old from Walsall was enjoying her evening in the Review Bar in the Arcadian, Hurst Street around midnight on Saturday 8 September, when she was shoved and dragged away by two men. One of the men punched her in the face, causing her to lose consciousness. She awoke outside the bar as paramedics tended to her injuries.

She was left with severe bruising and a cut above her eye, which needed stitches. To add to her distress, her handbag was stolen during the commotion.

Police have today released a picture of two men they want to speak to, after local enquiries have failed to identify the pair.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Gareth Williams said: “This was a totally unprovoked attack on a young woman who was enjoying an evening out with friends.

“We are hoping that someone will recognise the men in the picture and come forward to help us identify them.

“If anyone who has information and does not want to speak to officers, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

“City centre police regularly patrol the Arcadian to ensure that revellers can enjoy their evening in a safe and enjoyable manner. Visitors can also do their bit to keep themselves safe by staying with friends, looking after their property and parking in a secure location if driving into the city.”

DC Williams can be contacted on 101 and Crimestoppers onĀ 0800 555 111.
