November 20, 2012, 2:26 pm

A woman in her 80s was threatened with a screwdriver and had her house ransacked in Salford.

The incident happened at around 6.30pm on Monday 19 November 2012 at an address on Brierley Road in Swinton.

Two men forced their way into the 87-year-old womans home and threatened her with a screwdriver as they demanded money and drugs.

The two men then ransacked the house, before making off on foot in the direction of Ackworth Road.

A woman with shoulder-length dark hair who spoke with a local accent, was also believed to have run away from the scene with the two men.

The elderly victim was uninjured during the robbery.

The first man is described as white, clean shaven, medium build, around 5ft 5in tall and was around 35 to 40 years old. He was carrying a red handled screwdriver.

The second man is described as white, slim build, wearing a black coat with his hood up, with a grey and red stripy pullover underneath. He spoke with a local accent.

Detective Sergeant Julie Connor from Salford CID said: “What these people did last night is despicable. They terrorised a defenceless elderly lady with a weapon in her own home, a place that she should feel safe.

“Although this lady wasnt injured, she has understandably been left traumatised by her ordeal and I am asking the public to help us identify those responsible so we can take them off the streets as soon as possible.

“I am also specifically appealing to the conscience of the criminal fraternity in the area to give up these cowards. Imagine if this victim was your grandmother or mother? Anyone with information is asked to contact Salford CID directly on 0161 856 5041 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
