Witnesses sought to Fulham match assault

Police are appealing for witnesses after a Sunderland fan was assaulted during yesterday’s match at Fulham.

The incident happened between 4.15pm and 4.30pm in the Putney End at Craven Cottage which contains away and neutral fans.

It occurred around the area of row TT in seats 150 – 170. There was an argument between Sunderland fans and the victim, a 20-year-old man, suffered a broken nose and cracked teeth.

One man, a 25-year-old, was arrested and enquiries are ongoing to trace another man.

Officers say there were a number of people who came forward on the day to identify those involved and police are keen to trace them and any further witnesses so statements can be taken. Anyone with information should contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191.
