Witness Appeal following Sexual Assault Stourbride

November 27, 2012, 2:15 pm

A WITNESS appeal issued last Monday following a sexual assault on a bus was sent with an image of a potential significant witness rather than the suspect police are looking for.

The correct image of the suspect is above.

Police want to speak to this man after a girl was sexually assaulted on a bus in Stourbridge.

The girl was travelling on the number 246 bus from Stourbridge to Dudley at around 4.10pm on Tuesday 2 October. A man got onto the bus and sat next to her and during the journey he sexually assaulted her.

The girl then changed buses and he followed her onto the number 87 bus at Dudley bus station. The girl ignored him and he did not make any further attempts to assault her. She then got off at her stop and ran home – the man did not follow her.

Detective Constable Liz Skyte, of Halesowen police station, said: “We want to hear from anyone who can identify the man in the image or anyone who may have witnessed this assault.

“It is unusual for a crime of this nature to happen in a public place and someone must have some information about the man responsible.”

Anyone who recognises the man in the image or anyone with information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously onĀ 0800 555 111.
