Witness appeal after car incident leaves elderly man in life-threatening condition

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for information after a 77-year-old man sustained injuries this morning on Baslow Road in Sheffield.

At 10am on Thursday, 22 November, the man parked his grey Alfa Romeo 156 on Baslow Road opposite the Co-Op store. The man exited the car and then appeared to have seen it starting to roll away. It is thought the man then tried to stop the car moving but fell under it.

The car came to rest against the central reservation.

The 77-year-old from Sheffield, sustained a broken hip, broken ribs and a broken left arm and is being treated in Northern General Hospital.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who saw the manner of driving prior to the collision and anyone who witnessed the collision. Please call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 298 of the 22 November.
