Victoria Road, assault

A man has today (Monday) pleaded guilty to assaulting another man in a Chelmsford nightclub which has left him critically injured and stable in hospital.

Police were contacted by the ambulance service shortly after 3.30am on Saturday, August 11, following reports that a man was unconscious on Victoria Road.

Officers arrived and found a 50-year-old man from Chelmsford with serious head injuries. He was conveyed to Broomfield Hospital and subsequently transferred to Romfords Queens Hospital where he is currently in a critical, but stable condition.

On Monday, August 27, Nicky Bowers was arrested and subsequently charged with one count of causing Grievious Bodily Harm. At Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday, November 26, the 26-year-old unemployed man from Newham in east London pleaded guilty to the offence. He was further remanded in court custody prior to his sentencing at the same court during week commencing Monday, January 7, 2013.
