Man steals valuable watch

A man made off with a Rolex watch and a diamond ring after distracting staff in a Peterborough jewellers.The man, who walked with a limp to his left leg, entered Harvey Daly, in Long Causeway, at about 4.45pm on Wednesday (November 14).

He asked to try on the Rolex, which had a diamond dial, diamond bezel and a mother of pearl face, and the gents ring, which was rose gold.

He then distracted staff by requesting to view another item and ran from the shop, turning left towards Cathedral Square, then Cathedral Precincts and towards Stanley Recreation Ground.sThe man was described as being black, in his mid to late 20s, with short black “Afro” hair, and was wearing a blue/grey waterproof windbreaker jacket and matching trousers.

Police have today released an image of the watch, which is worth several thousand pounds.

PC Peter Hume, who is investigating, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who recognises the description of this man or recalls seeing him flee.

“I would also urge anyone who knows of the whereabouts of the Rolex or the ring, which is worth several hundred pounds, to contact police.”
