Injury shooting, Monfa Road, Bootle

Merseyside Police can confirm that an investigation is underway after a teenager was shot in Bootle last night (Tuesday, 20 November).

Emergency services were called to Monfa Road at around 5.10pm to reports that a teenage boy had been shot.

On arrival officers found a 16-year-old male with pellet injuries to his right hand and upper thigh. He attended at hospital where he is receiving treatment for injuries to his side and hand. His injuries are not life threatening.

The victim is not co-operating with the police and detectives are appealing to anyone who may have information to come forward.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the community and an investigation to establish the full circumstances of the incident is underway.

Officers are in attendance in the area and house-to-house enquiries are being carried out.

The investigation is in its early stages and at this time detectives are keeping an open mind in relation to the motive for the attack, which they believe was targeted.
