Hair salon thieves strike twice in 20 minutes

November 16, 2012, 10:54 am

A customer was assaulted as raiders stormed into two hair salons late on Tuesday afternoon (13 November).

Police are linking the two robberies in Oldbury which happened within 20 minutes of each other.

Offenders first struck at Suzannes Hair Fashions on Basons Lane just before 4.30pm.

Two black men in their twenties walked into the store and demanded that cash was handed over but fled empty handed when challenged by staff.

At around 4.50pm it is believed the same pair struck again at Divas Hair and Beauty on Newbury Lane – just over two miles away from the first incident.

This time the thugs escaped with cash and hit a 54-year-old customer before stealing her purse. The customer was left bruised and shaken by the ordeal.

Detectives from the Force Criminal Investigation Department are now investigating the robberies and are appealing to anyone who may have seen the thieves to contact them.

Detective Constable Ryan Matthews said: “Both robberies happened at a very busy time of the day and we are hoping that someone saw the men and can help us identify them.

“The pair are described as black and in their twenties. One man is believed to be over 6ft tall and of a large build. He was wearing a black jacket and bottoms. The other man was slim, around 5ft 8 and again was dressed in black.

“Fortunately no-one was seriously hurt but this must have been a terrifying ordeal for all those involved.

“I urge anyone who may have any information that could help our inquiry to call me on 101.
