Doncaster man sentenced to 14 years in prison for murder

On Wednesday, 21 November, 2012, Ashley Styring, 24, from Doncaster has been sentenced to a minimum of 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of John Kidd at Sheffield Crown Court.

Doncaster man, John Kidd, 26, died on Friday, 13 January 2012 from the serious head injuries he sustained when he was assaulted by Ashley Styring eight days earlier at his home on St James Street, Doncaster.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Natalie Shaw said: “John was a vulnerable young man, whose death in these circumstances is all the more tragic having been brought about by a man whom he called a friend.”
