CCTV image released of suspected arsonist

Police have issued a CCTV image of a man wanted in connection with an arson attack at a Stockport business.

At about 11.30am on 23 October 2012, an unknown offender entered Ironside Lubricants Ltd on Shield Street and set fire to a stack of paper.

The fire was discovered by staff who extinguished it before it spread.

Police have released CCTV taken from the area that shows a man entering the business at the time of the fire. He then walks off towards King Street.

He is described as white, about 6ft tall, of thin build and was carrying a large toolbox.

Detective Constable Barry Thurlow, said: “Deliberately starting a fire in a business premises filled with employees is nothing short of reckless and had it not been for the staff who discovered the fire the consequences could have been far worse.

“The man in the image is seen entering the building at about the time of the fire so clearly we need to identify and speak to him.

“If anyone knows anything about this incident or who the man in the image is please get in touch.”
