Barnsley man sentenced to three years imprisonment after cannabis cultivation found at home

Police in Barnsley carried out a drugs warrant on Saturday, 10th June, 2012 at a property on Sheffield Road, Penistone.   On entry to the property, police found cannabis set ups in each room in the house.  There was a total of 82 plants with a street value of £32,000.

A 32-year-old man, Christopher Butcher, was arrested for production of cannabis with the intent to supply and money laundering.

On Monday, 19 November, 2012, Christopher Butcher was sentenced to three years in prison at Sheffield Crown Court.

Police Constable Nichola Garbett said: “We want to send out a positive message that South Yorkshire Police will not tolerate people who cultivate, sell or use illegal drugs and all information passed to the police about such activities will be taken seriously and will result in positive action.”
