Armed robbery at fast food restaurant, south Manchester

November 26, 2012, 11:40 am

An armed man threatened staff at a fast-food restaurant in West Didsbury.

At about 11.30pm on Friday 23 November 2012 the man, who had his face covered, went into the McDonald’s on Princess Road. He was armed with what appeared to be in a gun concealed in a green plastic bag.

He made threats to staff and demanded cash. He then ran off with money along Princess Road in the direction of Barlow Moor Road.

Nobody was injured.

The offender is described as being of medium build and about 5ft 8in to 5ft 10in tall. He was wearing a black hooded top. He had his face covered with a scarf and was wearing grey trainers.

Detective Constable Ed Lister said: “While no members of staff were injured, they were left badly shaken up by this incident.

“We have been working hard over the weekend to trace the man responsible for this robbery where members of staff and members of the public felt as though they were in danger.

“The area around the restaurant is always very busy, particularly with traffic, and despite the time of the offence I am sure there are people out there who may have seen something and could help this investigation.”
