November 28, 2012, 1:32 pm

Detectives are appealing for information after a 24-year-old man was assaulted by a gang of youths outside his house.

Between 11.30pm on Friday, November 23 and 12.15am on Saturday, November 24 the victim was at home on Brockhall Rise, Heanor, when he heard banging on his front door.

He opened the door to see a group of five youths walking away from the door. He asked them what they were doing and they became aggressive and began shouting at the victim.

He tried to calm the situation but he was dragged to the floor and kicked and punched repeatedly until he lost consciousness.

The victim suffered a broken nose, swelling and cuts to his face and deep cuts to both elbows. He was taken to Queens Medical Centre where he received treatment for his injuries.

The gang were all white and around 17 to 20-years-old and all wore casual clothing.

At around 11.30pm on Friday, November 23 a similar group of youths banged on the door of a house on Westfield Avenue, Heanor. They also threw a rock at a car parked on the road and caused minor damage to a garden.

Police believe the incidents are linked and would like to speak to anyone who saw the assault take place or saw this group of youths acting suspiciously in the area.
