September 26, 2012, 9:56 am

A 29-year-old man is due in court on a charge of burglary following an incident in Bridgnorth.

Officers were called a report of a break-in at an address in Wrekin Road just after 3.15pm on Tuesday 25thSeptember 2012, where items believed to have been stolen included clothing, a watch, sunglasses and a Blackberry mobile phone.

A search was carried out and following information from several witnesses in the area, the defendant was arrested at a property in nearby Bowers Close less than an hour later.

He was charged with burglary following interview and remained in custody over night ahead of his appearance at Telford Magistrates Court on Wednesday 26th September 2012.

While still comparatively low, burglaries have increased in Shropshire and Telford in recent months, with about 140 more than usual over the past six months. The crime remains one of the top priorities for West Mercia Police.

Citadel is a campaign to drive burglary rates back down and more than 600 people have been arrested across the three counties covered by the force since the beginning of April.
